POEM #61 FOR POEM A DAY FOR 2020

It is amazing to me how something as seemingly simple as doing the dishes can become a central issue in a marriage! Those that are not yet married be warned! Those that are already married, I truly hope you do the dishes well together. 

Even though I know better now a days, sometimes the old feelings of low self worth creep in and take awhile to dispel.  Enough kindness eventually restores my sanity. 

I was feeling extremely hungry for beauty when I wrote this - in all forms. I am happy to say that I did find my way there! Yay!

I am blessed to live near many creeks and streams and they are, indeed, music to my ears. This poem was from about 20 years ago I think. But the voice of water still works on my soul. 

There are so many poems to write about all the different experiences of relationship.Truly a never ending source of inspiration (and frustration).

This poem was inspired by many many conversations with people about the "small stuff" in relationships. 

I remember this poem from 2000. It seems like it was a simpler time, before climate change was more the topic at hand. I was just fascinated and appreciative of the gift that gravity is. 

Well, this is me in a nutshell lately

This poem was inspired by reflecting on how strange it is to move out of intimacy after being in relationship with someone. It takes quite a bit to blend lives and quite a bit to unwind them too. 

There have been times when I have reverted to being extremely practical only to discover that I had accidentally suppressed some important passionate and fun parts of myself. 

This poem from 2015 was another from the precious moments spent on Kootenay lake during that summer. I was carrying so much responsibility during that time and had 24 hours to myself at the tail end of a camping trip.

 I don't often write a poem that rhymes but this one wanted to, so I went with it. This poem speaks to something that annoys me - when I get accused of being less than or spiritually "failing" somehow if I am in the shit. It's all good and I'm still worthy no matter what's happening. 

This poem came from reflecting on the nature of physical attraction and how it influences intimacy in the most profound way. 

This poem from the early days of motherhood in 2000 made me laugh out loud today. I can't say that I have been properly on top of housework for twenty years now! I have learned that there are more important things. 

Sometimes it is lovely to drift off into a sweet romantic moment. 

This poem speaks to how hard it can be to see and be seen accurately in any relationship. And it encourages some patience as well. 

One of our darling cats loves to sing, particularly in the dark and when all is quiet. She can really get going. This poem is an ode to her Diva self :)

In times of trouble it does me a lot of good to slow down and tune into the earth and feel nurtured out in nature. 

I was browsing older poetry today and this poem from 2014 struck me as extremely relevant for current circumstances!
