POEM #100 FOR POEM A DAY FOR 2020

This feels like a significant milestone on the way through this year long journey! I am feeling grateful and challenged by this practice of posting a poem a day - no matter what is happening! This poem is recent and is a heartfelt response to so many things from Covid, to climate change, to political craziness, and on and on. 

I wrote this poem no long ago but had no idea that so many people would be sitting so still in the near future. It struck me as ironic today and made me wonder what will be born from this world wide pause?

This poem is part one of two from 2017 (sequel tomorrow). A little time travel comfort. Please feel free to convert the pronouns to suit yourself. 

This poem goes with yesterday's poem but from the opposite direction in time. Both of these poems emerged from a "conversation" I had with my 80 year old self in my journal. 

A lighthearted poem for all the coffee lovers out there!

This poem was an interesting reflection on a relationship from start to finish, an entire package, that I was contemplating as I watched the time to let go arrive, whether I was ready or not. 

I am truly deeply in love with trees. They speak to my soul and I rely on them every day to sustain and nourish me. I am incredibly blessed to live among them and receive their energy!!

This poem from back in 1997 described the state of my romantic relationship at the time. It was not an easy moment. I am always amazed at how a poem can capture such things. 

Often I write poems about finding (and losing) my way through life, trying to navigate my identity within the context of the greater whole. 

I wrote this poem in January just after I started the process of posting a poem a day - when it dawned on me how personal poetry is and how vulnerable it can be to share it. 

As you can likely tell, this poem rose out of a very difficult relationship situation in which I dearly loved my partner but the relationship was hell. 

It has taken me awhile to learn that when I turn towards my dragons, they settle down, let me tame them and I come out the other side of vulnerability and insecurity intact. 

This is a poem from early on in my exploration of relating to myself in a nurturing way. I am always grateful when I am able to see the sunshine in my own soul. 

This poem is about an old defense strategy of staying small, hiding, not engaging in life - I do this much less than I used to and that is good news!

Ah the spring! It calls to me! 

This poem is from my post divorce era and describes a very real experience! For all the second time virgins out there! 

This poem describes a moment when I was pregnant with my son but still nursing my daughter. I was gently aware of my heartbeat at the centre of us all. 

This is a poem born out of many explorations of what unconditional love actually means and it's impact on me as the one doing the loving. 

I was longing for a lost love and wondering what it would be like if he really showed up!

I suppose it is never a good idea to try to go back into relationship that wasn't working in the first place.
